Kimberly Lemley is the Information Services Director for Cobb County Government in Marietta, GA. Mrs. Lemley began her IT career working at the Cobb County Government Information Services Help Desk part-time while attending college. She advanced through the department holding several positions from a Technical Support Analyst, Public Safety Technology Services Manager, Division Director over Courts, Public Safety, and Tax Departments, and most recently promoted to IS Director in June 2020. She recently celebrated her 20-year service anniversary at Cobb County in February of this year.
As with most IT Departments, cybersecurity is at the forefront of Cobb’s daily activities. Following a recent phishing attack, Mrs. Lemley spearheaded and received approval from the County’s Board of Commissioners for the creation of a dedicated cybersecurity team. This dedicated team will consist of a cybersecurity manager and five network security administrators whose focus will be enhancing our multi-layered cybersecurity defense to protect our county network, systems, and data.
As a result of the County’s cybersecurity improvements, the Center for Digital Government recently ranked Cobb County in the top 10 nationwide population category of 500,000 – 999,000 as a 2021 Digital Counties Survey Winner.
Mrs. Lemley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from Kennesaw State University and is a University of Georgia, Carl Vinson Institute of Government EXCEL graduate. Additionally, she is a graduate of the InfoTech Leadership Enhancement Acceleration Program. Kimberly resides in Hiram, Georgia with her husband and their two boxers.
