Simone N. Hylton serves as an Executive District Attorney at the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office under the leadership of District Attorney Fani T. Willis. In this role, she leads the Brenda Baham Domestic Violence Division, which encompasses two critical units: the Domestic Violence Unit and the Animal Cruelty and Elder Abuse Unit. These units handle some of the most sensitive cases, prosecuting crimes involving vulnerable individuals, including intimate partner violence, elder abuse, animal cruelty, and cases involving homicide, aggravated assault, and battery.
Before re-joining the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Hylton was a Senior Assistant District Attorney at the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office, where she worked in both the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit and the Sexual Exploitation and Crimes Against Children Unit. Throughout her career, Ms. Hylton has prosecuted a wide range of cases, from drug offenses to homicides.
Ms. Hylton began her career in 2010 at the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, where she quickly gained recognition for her exceptional work. Over the years, she has earned numerous accolades, including the Diamond Award, Changemaker Award, Superstar Award, Major Case Rookie of the Year, Trial Unit Attorney of the Year, and Rising Star honors. Some of her most notable cases have also garnered national attention, with features in true crime documentaries such as Interrogation Raw, Dateline, On the Case with Paula Zahn, and The Real Murders of Atlanta.
In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Hylton is deeply committed to training the next generation of attorneys. She has led numerous training sessions across Georgia on key topics such as Recanting Witnesses, Domestic Violence Homicides, Mental Health Defenses, and Child Abuse.
A Philadelphia native, Ms. Hylton made Georgia her home after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Communications from Howard University in 2004. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2008. Ms. Hylton is a strong advocate for diversity and leadership within the legal community. She currently serves as the President of the National Black Prosecutors Association and is a Past President of the Greater Atlanta Black Prosecutors Association. Additionally, she is the Vice President of Academies for the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and holds leadership positions in several other civic and legal organizations.
Beyond her legal work, Ms. Hylton is an Adjunct Professor at Emory University School of Law, where she teaches trial techniques. She is passionate about mentoring and recruiting future prosecutors, helping to shape the next generation of legal professionals.
Ms. Hylton is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter) and is deeply involved in her community, including her church, Cascade United Methodist Church.
