WorkSource Fulton and Grady Health System Invest in Healthcare Workforce Training
June 04, 2026
WorkSource Fulton, in collaboration with Grady Health System and regional economic development leaders, today celebrated a workforce investment of up to $35,000 through the WorkSource Fulton Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) Program. The investment highlights a shared commitment to workforce excellence, talent development, and strengthening Fulton County's healthcare sector for the future.
Robb Pitts, Chairman, Fulton County Board of Commissioners and Anthony Saul, who will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer for Grady Health System on January 1, 2027, joined workforce development leaders in recognizing the importance of investing in the healthcare workforce. The investment recognizes Grady Health System’s commitment to developing and retaining the skilled healthcare professionals who support one of Fulton County’s most vital industries while helping ensure the organization remains responsive to evolving labor force and patient care needs.
Representing Fulton County’s economic development efforts, Select Fulton, Director, Samir Abdullahi joined WorkSource Fulton, Business Services Manager, Lucius Runnels and Andy Macke, Chair, WorkSource Fulton Local Workforce Development Board; as well as Dr. Yolanda H. Wimberly, Chief Health Outcomes Officer, Grady Health System, for the presentation. The investment emphasizes the critical connection between workforce development, talent retention, and the long-term economic competitiveness of Fulton County.
The award reflects Fulton County’s broader strategy of aligning workforce development with industry needs, ensuring that employers have access to skilled talent while creating opportunities for residents to advance in high-demand careers.
The partnership with Grady comes at a pivotal time as the health system continues expanding its presence and impact across South Fulton. Recently, Grady advanced healthcare access through the opening of its new South Fulton emergency department on June 2, bringing critical medical services closer to residents while strengthening healthcare infrastructure in one of the region’s fastest-growing areas.
The incumbent worker training investment complements that expansion by focusing on the people who make quality healthcare possible. Together, workforce development and healthcare infrastructure investments create a powerful combination that supports both community well-being and economic growth.
To date, WorkSource Fulton has awarded nearly $100,000 in workforce training investments to support employers across the county, including organizations such as Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, City of East Point Fire Department and other regional employers committed to workforce development and employee advancement.
As Fulton County continues attracting investment and supporting business growth, partnerships among employers, workforce organizations, healthcare institutions, and economic development leaders remain critical to ensuring the region's long-term competitiveness.
Through initiatives like the Incumbent Worker Training Program, Fulton County, WorkSource Fulton, and community partners are investing not only in businesses, but in the workforce that powers the county’s economic future.
