Fulton Brighter Futures A Solar Data Visualization Project

August 17, 2026

On Wednesday, August 5th, Fulton County arts + tech interns unveiled their summer project Fulton Brighter Futures, transforming the county’s solar data into an interactive public art display. The featured work, which can be accessed at Fulton Brighter Futures site, grew out of a collaboration between the Fulton County Department of Real Estate and Asset Management’s Sustainability Team and the Public Art Futures Lab.

The project transforms information about solar electricity production, cost savings, and carbon reduction into an evolving, updateable digital platform that can continue to serve as a public-facing educational tool beyond the exhibition. The exhibition also featured selected works from the Hammonds House Museum Collection that reflect the themes of the project.

The touchscreen data visualization was designed and developed by Georgia Tech Digital Media master’s graduates Thaís Alvarenga and Daksh Kapoor. The Partnership for Innovation funded the internships as part of its Summer Internship Program, which supports project-based internship opportunities across the Southeast. Through the program, interns contribute specialized skills to projects that advance public service, innovation, community impact, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Fulton County’s Sustainability Team has been implementing the county’s solar program since 2020, when the county entered into a 20-year Solar Energy Purchase Agreement with

Cherry Street Energy. With this agreement, the county was able to have solar panels installed at no upfront cost. The program, as illustrated by Fulton Brighter Futures, has grown from six buildings in 2021 to over 40 buildings in 2026. More information about the county’s solar program can be found on the Solar Energy Program webpage.
