Public Education and Outreach

Public Education and Outreach

The Public Education and Outreach group works to raise awareness of water issues and encourage individual and community stewardship of our water resources through engaging environmental education programs and volunteer opportunities. For more information about any of the programs listed below, or to schedule a program, please contact us at 404-612-7400.

Upcoming programs and events can be viewed on our Events Calendar.

Facility Tours
We offer tours of both our water and wastewater treatment facilities. Touring a facility is an excellent way for your group to go behind-the-scenes and learn what goes into providing clean water to our customers each day and returning clean water to the environment after use.

School Outreach Programs
We offer free educational outreach programs (link to Education Program Listing) to public and private schools in Fulton County, for grades PreK-12.  All of our school programs are taught at your school, or can be combined with one of our facility tours.  Our programs are aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence to match your curriculum.

Career Days
We’re always looking for a few good men and women to work in the water industry.  Water careers provide a valuable resource to the community, and jobs are available for a variety of backgrounds and interests.  Contact us about participating in your career day event.  The Georgia Association of Water Professionals offers more information about careers in water.

Community Groups
We provide programming for Fulton County civic associations, neighborhood groups, homeowners associations, Boy and Girl Scout troops, after-school programs, senior centers, and other community groups.  Contact us to discuss your group’s programming needs and interests.
We offer educational workshops to help our customers learn how to save water and money, and to protect our water resources by preventing pollution.  Topics include:
Fixing household leaks
Septic Tank Maintenance
Rain barrels
Green Cleaning
Project W.E.T. curriculum workshops (for educators)
Community Events
Public Education staff are available to bring hands-on activities, crafts, and educational resources to community events such as festivals and community celebrations.  Please contact us for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities
We offer a variety of opportunities for Fulton County residents to get involved in protecting our natural resources.  Visit our volunteer page to learn more about helping with community cleanups, storm drain marking, or Adopt-a-Stream water quality monitoring.

Water Art Calendar Contest
The Water Art Calendar contest encourages students to think about how our water choices can impact our water supply, environment, and quality of life. Each year, we receive inspiring artwork from very talented students across the county.  Look for entry forms to be posted here in late August.
